This week marks a monumental milestone for NEMA Ltd, as several years of our Active Magnetic Bearings initiative, sees the latest project; MAMBA (Market-ready Active Magnetic Bearings for Aerospace) pass over to the Power Electronics, Mahcines and Control Research Insitute at the University of Nottingham. The team at Nottingham are globally renowned for their work on control systems and we have a close working relationship with several members. As always, we are excited to be working with them and sharing our own experience as an industry leader in winding and electro-mechanical assemblies, as we bring this project to life together. The team at NEMA have been busy running their final checks and carefully packing up the parts before they take them to the University to assemble them at the other end, ready for the next phase of development to begin. As a supplier of EMA’s to many established names in the industry, we have always pursued opportunities to push boundaries and develop new applications, the work being done here could prove fundamental in pushing electro-mechanical systems beyond what we have previously thought achievable and we relish the opportunity to pursue those possibilities. This project is supported by the Aerospace Technology Institute Funding Programme. |
