NEMA have been working alongside NATEP - National Aerospace Tecnology Expolitation Programme in conjunction with the Aerospace Technology Institute to develop active magnetic bearings for use in high speed applications in aerospace, eliminating friction and wear in places where standard bearings would be unable to operate for extended periods.
The first part of the project has seen static experimental characterisation of the actuators, this video goes on to explain how we achieved this and the benefits we have seen to the business as well as future development potential.
